BDSM Newcomer’s Series, May – Oct 2005

“I wish I had learned this stuff when I first joined the scene.” – Margaret/KitNboots

The BDSM Newcomer’s Series is a group of six classes designed for those relatively new to the scene (first few years). Old hands also welcome. They may be taken in any order, and there is relatively little overlap between them, so consider attending them all.

Thu May 5 - Kinky Dating
Thu June 9 - 100 Ways to Play
Thu July 7 - Beginner’s Dungeon
Thu Aug 11 - Kinky Relationships
Thu Sep 8 - Your First Scenes
Thu Oct 6 - Beginner’s Dungeon (repeat)
Thu Nov 3 - (series continues, tbd)
Thu Dec 8 - (series continues, tbd)

All at SFCitadel - 245 Eighth Street (between Howard & Folsom), San Francisco
Doors 7:00 pm, Program runs from 7:30 pm – 10:30ish pm
$10 - $20, sliding scale, ntaflof (Beginner’s Dungeon is free / donation)

Descriptions below. Reservations are not required. You don't need to bring or wear anything special. If you’re coming straight from work and time is tight, you can bring dinner to eat during the class. The class is open to anyone 18 years and older with a sincere, positive, personal interest in BDSM / leather / kink. All roles, genders, and orientations welcome.

Angela and Iain teach at all levels, at many venues. Their teaching style combines humor and approachability with clarity and thorough research.

Brief class summaries:

“Beginners Dungeon” provides a scene overview, what to expect, how to fit in, what people do and why, etiquette, etc. You will have a clear idea of the range of BDSM activities, and how to attend events safely, without getting the wrong reputation.

“Kinky Dating” covers where and how to find suitable play partners.

“Your First Scenes” provides practical tips so new tops and bottoms can start playing. This includes choosing toys, types of play, structure of a scene, styles, etc.

“Kinky Relationships” covers the basics of starting a longer-term Ds or SM relationship and keeping it successful.

“100 Ways to Play” introduces over a hundred different types of BDSM play, and what they are really about. It helps you understand what you’ll see in a dungeon, and decide which ones you want to try.

“Dungeon Life” covers many aspects of people in the scene: personality types, roles, your scene persona, sub-communities, myth-busting, etc.
