This class is for everyone who is new to the scene (less than a year) or wants a refresher course. Old hands also welcome. We cover what to expect, what to wear, how to fit in, and ways to be safe and happy. We allay fears, dispel myths, decode the jargon, and set reasonable expectations. Why do people do these things, what exactly do they do, and which ones might I want to do? Why and how is etiquette so much different in the scene? This is a good chance to have questions answered, and avoid getting the wrong reputation. Includes a tour of a working dungeon. And if you’re good, we’ll teach you the secret password.

Angela and Iain are officers in the Society of Janus, Dungeon Monitors for SF Citadel and elsewhere, and teach BDSM classes at all levels, at many venues. Both were beginners once. Their teaching style combines humor and approachability with clarity and thorough research.
In keeping with a ten-year tradition, this class is free, compliments of SF Citadel and the presenters. Donations to maintain SF Citadel are gratefully accepted. SF Citadel is a large, permanent play space in San Francisco.
Reservations not required. You don't need to bring or wear anything special. If time is tight, you can bring dinner to eat during the class. The class is open to anyone 18 years and older with a sincere, positive, personal interest in BDSM / leather / kink. All roles, genders, and orientations welcome. If you have questions you may write to edukink AT yahoo DOT com

What past attendees have said:
“I wish I’d learned this when I first entered the scene.”
“They make it all easier and more fun.”
“I’m just here ‘cause a friend is kinky.”
“I already know everything. I’m just checking if they get it right.”
“Yeah, whatever.”
- -
“Beginner’s Dungeon” is part of the monthly Newcomer’s Series of six low-cost BDSM/leather classes mainly for those with less than three years in the face-to-face scene. Old hands also welcome. The classes may be taken in any order, and there is very little overlap between them, so consider attending them all.
The next part will be on Thursday February 2nd, also at SF Citadel.

Re: 01/05 Beginner’s Dungeon, at SF Citadel
Fri, January 6, 2006 - 11:51 AMThank you, Angela and Iain, for putting this class on. It was very informative, professional, and still relaxing enough to have candid Q&A.
This class and tour helped to clarify some voids or questions about how this all happens, what to expect, how to conduct yourself, understanding what's going on inside the heads of the participants, and the reasons and the draws for playing in this way. -

Fri, January 6, 2006 - 2:10 PMExcellent class Angela & Ian. Although I have been around longer than I care to admit at times ;) I new my young friend would feel more comfortable exploring with someone familiar & I was quite pleased at how enjoyable I found your material and style.
